LIBERATION
The Three-Level Exhibition Franz Klainsek epitomizes a Monument of Liberation. “LIBERATION” spans 7 rooms, comprising sculpture, installation, performance, and painting. Embodying an expansive 15,000 square feet, "LIBERATION" by Franz is a 6-month intervention of a former socialist building into a public experience of Freedom.

CREATED TO INSPIRE

LIBERATION FROM FEAR

THE MANIFESTO
OF
A LIBERATED MAN
The work never ends. I came into this project with a strong connection and commitment to grow my relationship with what is the creative process and ultimately what is the process of life. I came open to understand that there will be moments of feeling one with alignment and flow and moments of mass confusion where I would be grasping for any understanding I once felt. This is life, this is the process of creation, and I will commit to not seeing either as good or bad but just as life and creation in its entirety.
We wish for things to be a certain way. For it to be roses and smiles, as we have been programmed to believe that feelings that arise from anything else are bad, and we should try to eliminate them from existence. This is where we die in misery and frustration. Life has much to overcome as the evolution of self will experience exactly what it must. To find triumph in the overcoming to further understand, or in the detangling of a mental knot that keeps us from the right now. To see with newborn eyes, not with the predetermined notion, but with a commitment to experience just as it is wishing nothing more, nothing less.
Uncertainty is beautiful: it's where great power lives. To not know, to accept uncertainty - living in this space is strength. It's where we experience the magic and allow for the great surprises and gifts of the next moment to arise.
Understand that and grab your fear by the hand by force, face it! It's exactly how it is - it's exactly how it's supposed to be. Make a courageous choice to overcome, to keep living with great intent, and to march forward towards more freedom no matter the cost.
We all want to be free; just some of us don't know it yet. We feel the weight of chains on our being that we must identify in our quest to taste freedom. We are done living entrapped by our minds and find the need to release ourselves from mental enslavement.
Wanting the work to be physical in a sense. Don't talk about the mental strength be about it! This is the space in which I create.
The evolution of self has no final destination. I go to work feeling that it is my duty to not only strengthen this understating but to strongly implement the work of self-development into my art and the process of creation. The space to release past and present and to focus solely on the now. Self-development and its evolution have an interesting path. You begin with a certain understanding or notion you work on; and at some point, it will come back full circle with another layer of depth to it. A good example of that is the many layers of what it means to be present. Presence entails an ability to trust that you are exactly where you are supposed to be. To allow for the process to take shape and not define exactly what the future will look like, as it will most definitely take on a different shape. To stay connected to the end result of what you wish to create for yourself: both in the spiritual and physical realm. To allow for this winding road to take its shape with trust that you will eventually get what you are looking for. With the understanding that this is not the end of the road but the beginning of a new journey.
I will throw these hands of truth until they end up in a cast.
I have been lost to my fears and doubts but life still has many bouts.
Life is defined by those you touch with your truth, my freedom is here to stay.
The path ahead may not be easy but it is illuminated.
To be a man of knowledge. A man or woman that acknowledges and recognizes his or her truth with no filter.
It's just how things are, how things have been, now it is up to us to rewire and flip our perspective. DO whatever it takes to heal ourselves, to seek freedom from the mental chains, and to be our most authentic self. Free from the lies we've been fed, free from the mental programming bestowed upon us. Free to release everything we've been taught, free to live in the place of the unknown. Free to learn and feel, free to stand in our truest identity, and free to be committed to that freedom.
We are not our minds. Our minds are our greatest weapon. We must use its powers for our good; not to take dominion over our existence. To inhale deeply, to look in the mirror, and to be free of disempowering thoughts as they are not ours, and understand they are just a reminder of how far we've come. To be so present, to be so aware that we are in charge of what thoughts we allow to stay and which are no longer welcomed. To be in love with the moment and be a soldier to that commitment. To slow things down at will, to take the time to feel everything neither as good nor bad but as life in all its beautiful entirety. To live and act with strong intention in all we do. No matter how little or small, strong intention in everything we do is how we will write the story of our lives. Everything that is, everything that we come face to face with: we will embrace. We recognize that everything is impermanent; and we can overcome with that perspective anything that is directly in front of us. With the perfect unfolding, every moment is a lesson a great opportunity to grow and to expand our beings. Through the roughest hour I am not a victim, suffering there will be in this life but it too shall pass! With the precise sight of an Eagle, we can begin to write the path to come. What is it we truly want? In the right now we can focus on what serves us and what garbage must be taken out. With a laser-like focus on what we wish to experience we place our attention on what we want our experience to be. We flow and refuse to hold on to yesterday or even tomorrow. To love to cry to fail to try: it's all part of this higher self plan. To learn to know to reason to try: I will prevail in the moment till the day that I die!

the grand room of
liberation

A large canvas piece (198 x 417 cms) serves as the backdrop for the Grand Room, the largest room spanning the length of the building, housing several pieces all diverse in their intention, material, and execution. The copper sculpture rotating in place is the obvious star of the room. With light bouncing off the copper and reflecting its way around the room Feeling both intimidatingly spiritual and glamorous at the same time. If you look just past it then you see the building on its IV drip -- an IV dripping blood into a hole that was broken through the ground. Several Breaking Ground Installations in this room serve different purposes of personal introspection for the viewer and the artist. The large painting and copper sculptures hang by muscular chains bolted directly to the ceiling. Feeling heavy and all connected, as if emerging from the walls of the building itself.

EL CUARTO DE LOS CLAVOS
As the viewer enters The Room of Nails, the senses and eyes take a moment to adjust to the lighting. Raw metals, wood panels, geometric patterns, and deliberate lighting set the atmosphere for the room.
Man’s two most common building materials sensually come together to create a feeling that toes the line between sex and aggression, maybe it’s both.
El Cuarto De Los Clavos Installation Room features Franz Klainsek's endurance pieces: The Nail Paintings. These light wall sculptures were created in this very room. It seems we can still smell the suffering that he transcended into beauty here. The room contains 21,000 individually placed nails composed of patterns and forms, lit in the godliest of manner.

BORN INTO CHAINS
The square room is closed off from entry. Only a small window allows the viewer to peek in. A strobing, even blinding light reveals the artist chained to the floor. As he stands in the exhibition that speaks of freedom, he reminds us of the constant commitment to breaking free from that which chains us. There, Franz stands with his struggles as the chamber of torture hits him with the light used as a technique of torture and interrogation.
THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN
The Installation “THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN” by Franz Klainsek is an interactive installation that is fueled by the intention of oneness. It encouranges contemplation of themes of Liberation from Fear and Limitation, and their embodiment of personal freedom.
THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN is covered in writing by the ones who stand their ground in this space — an immersive experience of collective LIBERATION.
“Finally Free”, “Why, Why, Always Ask Why”, “Liberation,” Franz wrote on the walls of the room , thin chains hang from the ceiling, intuitively inviting the visitors of the exhibition to become one with the exhibition, leaving their message of freedom on the walls of “LIBERATION'“, the installation is created to embody the collective experience of liberation.
WHAT COMES NEXT
As you enter what feels like the smallest room in the building we are hit with possibly the biggest confrontation. Thousands of nails, in the shape of a body making us come to face to face with death. Our own, someone else’s, or the death of a belief. All traumatic and all are felt when the ominous lighting bounces off the bright nails, which lay just underneath the building's floor.
